Responsibilities

  • Create models, manufacturing drawings, fixtures and tooling using SolidWorks, Fusion 360 and AutoCAD.
  • Program Haas CNC equipment for milling and turning, including 5-axis machining.
  • Select tooling, feeds and speeds, operation sequences and inspection methods; design and build suitable workholding.
  • Check posted code, simulate toolpaths and prove out programs at the machine.
  • Make and inspect first parts, document results and correct process issues before production.
  • Provide proven programs, setup sheets, tool lists and instructions for production machinists.
  • Run batches when needed and improve repeat-production quality, cycle time and tool life.
  • Work with engineering and fabrication to resolve drawing questions and improve manufacturability.

Required qualifications

  • Demonstrated ability to take a drawing or model through programming, setup, prove-out and production of parts to specification.
  • Hands-on experience with Haas equipment, 5-axis milling and CNC lathes.
  • Strong CAD/CAM and drafting skills using SolidWorks, Fusion 360 and AutoCAD.
  • Practical fixture and workholding design experience, with sound knowledge of milling, turning, tooling and offsets.
  • Sound knowledge of tolerances, surface finish and dimensional inspection, and the ability to document and hand off a repeatable production process.

Preferred experience

  • Ability to read and edit CNC code by hand when needed and learn machine-specific programming methods.
  • Laser-process experience: DXF-driven cutting, simple geometry and path setup for laser welding, and code-driven laser cutting.
  • Prototype and small-batch manufacturing.

Compensation
